KBIA registration is open for 108th season

Registration is now open for the 108th season at the Kennebunk Beach Improvement Association. KBIA will offer eight weeks of summer recreational and enrichment classes for ages 2 to 17, starting June 25.

KBIA will again waive the membership fee for all Week 1 participants (June 25-29) as a way for first-time families to try out KBIA with no commitment.

The nonprofit summer camp offers swimming, sailing, surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, diving, golf, tennis, drama, arts and crafts, sailing trips and woodworking, among its 50-plus course offerings.

Other popular options include counselor-in-training classes, marine biology, reading, pottery and sculpture, and beach games.

All classes are open to KBIA members and membership is open to the public. Participants register by the week, and classes are offered a la carte or as a bundle for morning and/or afternoon sessions.

Family memberships include twice-daily open swim for children, weekly beach bonfire and barbecues followed by movie night, open sail/kayaks on most weekends, and a Seaside Celebration for adults.

For class schedules, pricing and information, visit www.kbia.net, like KBIA on Facebook or follow KBIA on Instagram at kbia1910.

In addition to youth recreational and enrichment offerings, KBIA will again sponsor community events for all ages: the 27th annual A Day at the Beach road race on Sunday, July 8, and the ninth annual Reid Sacco Regatta on Saturday, Aug. 11, as well as guided Cove Walks on July 7, July 22, and Aug. 4. All are open to the public.

In 2018, KBIA scholarships will total $40,000, which will support between 20 and 25 children, the majority of which were awarded by each of the schools in the RSU 21 school district.
