Esther Clark

Esther Stuart Taylor Clark died peacefully at her home in Clovis, New Mexico, on Dec. 25, 2018. She was born March 2, 1924 in Rockland, the seventh of eight children to the Rev. Oscar and Emma (Smith) Stuart.

As a very young girl, her father became the pastor of the Kennebunk Baptist Church, and it was Kennebunk that she always called her home.

She graduated from Kennebunk High School and then from Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, as a registered nurse.

Nursing was her passion. Until the day she retired form nursing at the age of 72, she wore her nursing cap with pride. She spent the majority of her nursing career at Webber Hospital in Biddeford, as the 3 to 11 nursing supervisor and then the director of nursing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Oscar and Emma Stuart, her five brothers; Chauncey, Wesley, Kenneth, William and Howard Stuart, her two sisters; Ruth Canforti and Mary Burnhann, her first husband of nearly 50 years; Archie Harrison Taylor, her second husband of nearly 10 years; Dr. John R. Clark, and her baby daughter; Sally.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters; Joy Taylor and Julie (J.R.) Ivy of Clovis, New Mexico, her son; Stuart Taylor of Parsonsfield, her granddaughters; Jessica (Jeremy) Turner and Amanda (Cory) Russell of Clovis, her great-granddaughter; Elowyn Turner, great-grandson, Oliver Russell of Clovis, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and internment will be in Kennebunk, Maine at a future date.
