(Jason Gendro photo ) KENNEBUNK — The top-seeded Kennebunk High School football team will compete in the Class B South semifinals on Friday night — and the Rams are riding high into their next playoff showdown.

Kennebunk absolutely dominated No. 8 Mt. Ararat in last week’s playoff opener. The Rams jumped out to a 49-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 55-7 victory.

The No. 1 Rams (9-0) will face No. 4 Greely (5-4), which picked up a wild 22-14 win over No. 5 Biddeford last Friday night.

Greely led 14-0 after touchdowns from Joey Casella (19-yard run) and Luke Stickney (8-yard run) in the opening half. Biddeford would rally with a safety and a pair of touchdown runs by Aidan Donovan in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 14.

With just 20 seconds to play, Biddeford tried to make a late drive to win the game but it would backfire as Greely’s Will Schumacher intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yards for the game-winning touchdown.

The Rams, who beat Mt. Ararat 70-0 in the regular season, left no doubt in their playoff opener.

Ryan Connors caught a touchdown pass from Tripp Bush on Kennebunk’s opening drive and would later return a punt for a touchdown.

Derek Smith rushed for a touchdown and also caught a TD pass from Bush. Alden Shields broke off a 53-yard score and Dante DeLorenzo, Cam Lovejoy and James Colby all scored on the ground in the victory.

Kennebunk coach Joe Rafferty isn’t sure what to expect from Greely as the two teams didn’t meet in the regular season — although they did see each other in a scrimmage back in August.

“We played Greely, but that’s back in preseason. That was like a whole world ago,” said Rafferty. “We’ll see what happens ... they will come ready to play.”

The Rams will welcome the Rangers for a 6:30 p.m. start at Kennebunk High on Friday night.

The other side of the Class B South bracket features No. 2 Marshwood and No. 3 Falmouth.

That game is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday in South Berwick.
