Eagle Scout

Benjamin Yost of Troop 520 in Malabar, Florida, recently completed all requirements for the rank of Eagle Scout. He will be honored in a Court of Honor ceremony on Oct. 14. Yost is the grandson of Cape Porpoise resident, Gail Browning. For his Eagle Scout project, Yost led his troop in the building and installation of 15 birdhouses at Grant-Valkaria Park in Florida. There were three designs to attract birds known to live and nest in the area. The target species were the red bellied woodpecker, wrens and finches. He presented the plan to the Grant-Valkaria town council and was approved. Pictured with Yost is Town Administrator Rick Hood. Yost is the son of Tim and Nancy Yost of Malabar. He is a junior honor student at Bayside High School, participates in athletics and plans to study engineering in college.
