Barbara Carlson

It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Carlson announces her passing, after a year of declining health, in the early morning hours Friday, Aug. 24, 2018.

Barbara was born in Natick, Massachusetts, Dec. 31, 1931 to Harry Lilja and Thyra Lilja (Jansson) of Dalsjofors, Sweden. The second youngest of seven siblings, and graduate of Natick High School, Barbara entered the work force and started her lifelong career in business.

She met and married her lifelong partner. Robert V. Carlson of Arlington, Massachusetts, on Oct. 30, 1951, establishing a family and life in Natick. After retiring from Bose, Barbara and Bob relocated to Kennebunk. Not one to sit back and wait for life to pass her by, Barbara started her second career as a successful and well-respected Realtor in her new community. Known for her feisty spirit, sense of humor and truthful tongue, she was loved by many.

After the death of her beloved Bob in 2005, Barbara relied on the friendships in the community to keep her laughing. She was known for saying, “I don’t want to go!” in reference to her someday passing. She filled her days with traveling, golf and enjoying local restaurants.

Barbara will be greatly missed by her friends and family. She is predeceased by her parents, Harry and Thyra Lilja, her siblings Roy, Harold, Alice, Doris, George, Robert and her beloved Bob, Robert V. Carlson.
