Library ready to begin eighth season of Genealogy Group

A presentation at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 kicks off the eighth year of Kennebunk Free Library’s Genealogy Group. The lecture by Francine Keating and Pam Stone Eagleson, will tell the story of Keating’s paternal great grandfather, Joseph Eugene Brent, whose oil-colored tin-type image was given to her five decades ago by her father’s second cousin. It is that picture that held clues that led to documenting family oral history and Joseph’s ancestry.

Keating, owner of a small herb business for 45 years in Kennebunk, grew up in western Massachusetts where she developed an interest in her roots as her parents recounted oral family history. Eagleson, an associate of the Board for Certification of Genealogists and member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, is a researcher, writer and lecturer.
