Thanks to all for making Music on Main happen

To the editor,

What a wonderful evening it was. Many thanks to all of you who helped make the 2018 Music on Main Summer Symphony an orchestral experience to remember.

Music on Main is so very grateful to the businesses, individuals and The Virginia Hodgkins Sommers Foundation who all contributed so generously toward bringing the Portland Symphony Orchestra to Kennebunk.

Equally important were the many volunteers who spent countless hours working behind the scenes throughout the year and the employees of the town of Kennebunk who helped keep the audience safe and managed the closure of Main Street last Thursday. They are the unsung heroes who keep things operating smoothly.

In what is becoming a bit of weather tradition, the rainy day gave way to a beautiful evening and PSO musicians and guest conductor Bruce Hangen were welcomed with loud applause and standing ovations during the concert.

Audience enthusiasm and delight were reflected in Music on Main’s successful public appeal to help us reach our $39,000 goal.

The donations poured in, accompanied by love, support and appreciation for Music on Main’s efforts to bring world class performance of live symphonic music to our Kennebunk community.

We understand that there is some confusion about how finances are handled between Music on Main, the town of Kennebunk and the Kennebunk Development Corporation and we are going to clarify this for our donors.

Music on Main is evolving, and as we expand we are making every effort to smooth out the bumps.

Collectively we are the notes that make the summer symphony so beautiful. Thank you.
