Community support of May Day Festival is appreciated

To the editor,

After what seemed like the longest and coldest winter ever Mother Nature gave us a banner of a day. The 20th May Day Festival turned out to be the biggest and best yet.

As you can imagine, an event like this takes a great deal of planning and lots of volunteers. We are so lucky to live in a community where so many want to help. Between those that gave their time, their talent, necessary materials and, yes, money the list is long and we would like to enlist your help in thanking them:

The Animal Welfare Society, Black Jack Chimney Sweep, Bowley Builders, Brian Hutchins Musicals, The Brick Store Museum, “Captain Blueberry” the Mascot, Coastal Cruisers, Cole Harrison Insurance, Cottage Design, DC Towing, Domino’s Pizza, “Drip” the Mascot, Duffy’s Tavern & Grill, Education Foundation, Estabrooks, Fleurant Flowers & Design, Garrett Pillsbury P&H, Gorham Savings Bank, GymNation, Hancock Lumber, Hands on Pottery, Hearth & Soul, Kennebunk Free Library, Kennebunk High School Band, Kennebunk Kennebunkport Little League, Kennebunk Police/Fire & Rescue, Kennebunk Light & Power, Kennebunk Recreation Department, Kennebunk River Band, Kennebunk Savings Bank, “Kenny Bear” the Mascot, Kennebunk Twirlers, Kennebunk Village Pharmacy, KKA Chamber of Commerce, KK& W Water District, Larry & Betty Deluxe Edition, Lucky Pup Rescue, Maine Ghostbusters, Motorland, Music on Main, News Center Maine and Stormy, Oakhurst Dairy, “Otto the Moose” the Mascot, Portland School of Ballet, Portland Symphony Orchestra, Rag Tag Band, Rogers & Hutchins, CPA, Stone & Associates, Unitarian Universalist Church, Video Creations and Zandri’s Martial Arts.

In order to make this a reality each year, we extend our gratitude to all the May Day volunteers, parade participants, our local police department and Kennebunk Public Works.

The May Day Festival Committee would also like to say thank you to Betsy MacDonald for all her support and commitment since day one of May Day and her dedication over the next 20 years. Betsy, you will be missed.

We’re already jotting down ideas for next year and we hope you’ll consider joining us when planning begins in early 2019. Until then, happy spring.

Linda Johnson
