First Congregational plans Palm Sunday Hymn Sing

First Congregational Church of Kennebunkport will host a Hymn Sing on Palm Sunday, March 25, at 2:30 p.m. The event will celebrate Holy Week with hymns of community, inspiration and reflection.

Free will donations are welcomed.

In addition to the periodic suppers and other events hosted by church members, the Rev. Jim Henry and congregation welcome the public to attend Sunday church service which begins at 9:30 a.m.

Easter Sunday service, April 1 will be at 9:30 a.m. First Congregational Church is located 1.5 miles south of Seacoast Trolley Museum where Log Cabin Road becomes North Street, next to Arundel Cemetery and near the Kennebunkport Historical Society. For more information, call 967-3897.

Library exhibition features Beyond Tots artwork

An exhibition of artwork by preschool-age children from the Kennebunk Recreation Department’s Beyond Tots Adventure Club will be on display at the Kennebunk Free Library in the Speers Gallery April 3-28.

The exhibit can be viewed during regular library hours.

The exhibit is in recognition of The Week of the Young Child, an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. The 2018 Week of the Young Child is April 16-20. The public is invited to attend a reception on Tuesday, April 3 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Network analytics firm, Plixer, acquired by Battery Ventures

Plixer, a company that specializes in network traffic analytics and incident response, announced that it has been acquired by Battery Ventures, a global, technology focused investment firm.

Plixer is known for its flagship product, Scrutinizer, which collects, visualizes and reports on rich metadata gathered from the existing wired and wireless network connections through to private, public and hybrid clouds. The network traffic analytics system, which is able to scale to any enterprise environment, delivers rich data context and provides the fastest reporting in the industry. Organizations like those in the financial, government, tech, retail, healthcare and education markets rely on Plixer to reduce risk, improve operations and lower cost while improving application performance.

As part of the transaction, Jeff Lindholm, former senior vice president of Brocade, Arbor Networks, and Juniper Networks, has joined Plixer as its new CEO. Mike Patterson and Marc Bilodeau, who founded the company in 1999, will continue to participate as members of the corporate leadership team.
