Why is pipe housing in front of high school?

To the editor: Now that the $50-plus-million school project in Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel is nearly complete (by most accounts it has been extremely successful), one has to wonder why the pump room (or pipe maze) is being constructed on the front corner of the Kennebunk High School property.

The school has a together look to it, so it does not need an eyesore to spoil the effort. Could it be moved underground? Could it be moved elsewhere on the property? Why was so much money spent on architects to end up with this abomination? Who’s in charge?
