Final call

Kennebunkport Deputy Fire Chief Paul David Chisholm answered his final tone Nov. 4, as his funeral procession passed up Summer Street in Kennebunk under a tribute from his fellow firefighters, on its way to his final resting place in Hope Cemetery. Chisholm joined the Kennebunkport Fire Department in 1988 and was active up to his final days, when he died following a battle with cancer. In addition to his volunteer duties, Chisholm was a career firefighter from 1961 to his retirement in 1997, a period that included stints as chief in Dedham and Hyannis, Massachusetts, as well as time as acting chief in Kennebunkport. He also was a member of the Church on the Cape in Cape Porpoise, Kennebunk Rotary Club, Kennebunkport American Legion Post 159 and several professional firefighter associations.
