Eungenia Donovan

Eugenia “Gene” B. Donovan, 77, a resident of Kennebunkport for many years before retiring to Delray Beach Florida, passed away on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 after a brief illness.

Born in Englewood, New Jersey, on May 22, 1940, the daughter of Robert and Eugenia (Remmers) Brown, Gene was a graduate of Mount Mercy Academy in Pittsburgh, before returning to New Jersey with her family where she became an international reservations and travel representative for Eastern Airlines.

Gene enjoyed raising her four sons and serving actively as a leader of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) in the state of Maine. She loved spending time by her pool with her many friends and family members, as well as working in clothing retail in Kennebunkport, Ogunquit and Boca Raton.

Gene was well known as the “town mom” during her sons’ high school years, always with an open door to anyone who needed a place to stay, a dinner at the table or just an ear to listen.

Gene is survived by her four sons, Jeff, Scott, Brian and his wife, Lisa and Mark “Bucky” and his wife, Michelle Donovan, her seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jessica, Ashley, Noah, Walker, Sierra, and Chelsea, six great grandchildren, and her brothers Bob and Jimmy, and his wife Patricia, Brown.

Gene is also fondly remembered by her many friends, especially Sandy Cabel, Lynn Gass, Michael and Michelle Supper, John LaDoucer, and Phil Dupont.

A private service will be held.
