Alumni association to host ‘Steel Magnolias’

The Kennebunk Kennebunkport Alumni Association is sponsoring the play “Steel Magnolia’s” at Hackmatack Playhouse in North Berwick on Thursday, Aug. 10.

Alumni will serve crackers, cheese and drinks for everyone. A bus will leave Kennebunk Elementary School at 6:30 p.m. for those who do not want to drive.

All proceeds benefit the Alumni Scholarship Fund.

McClelland Foundation concert set for Aug. 6

The Keith McClelland Community Music Foundation will host organist Katelyn Emerson of York at The Church on the Cape in Cape Porpoise. The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6.

Emerson won the American Guild of Organists’ 2016-2017 national young artists’ competition last year in Houston.

Emerson, a Fulbright Scholar, studied in Toulouse, France, and performed throughout Europe and Russia during her academic year aboard.

She is a graduate of Oberlin College and Conservatory with double bachelor’s degrees in organ performance and French as well as minors in music history and historical performance. She is currently associate organist and choir director at the Church of the Advent in Boston. A donation will be requested at the door.

Tri City chorus to host vocal screenings

The Tri City Community Chorus invites prospective singers to a vocal screening for all voice parts Monday, Aug. 2. The screening will be held at the Masonic Hall, third floor of the Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, at 252 Main St. in Saco. Entrance and parking are located at the rear of building. Historical society plans vintage baseball game

A vintage baseball game will be held at 11 a.m. July 30 in Arundel. It is sponsored by the Arundel Historical Society and Arundel Little League and will take place at Gilliam Field, behind Mildred L. Day School on Limerick Road.

Dirigo Maine will take on the Mudville Baseball Club in a family event that provides a glimpse of how the national pastime began. There will be concessions and ice cream sundaes available. Bring chairs and blankets.

Nicole’s Run raises funds for Caring Unlimited

On Sunday, July 30, the 10th annual Nicole’s Run/ Ellie’s Walk will take place at Lord’s Point at Kennebunk Beach.

The 5K (3.1 mile) run or walk begins at 9 a.m. with registration opening at 6:45 a.m. A 1K kids’ fun run will take off at 8:30 a.m.
