LAUNCH! festival was a success

To the editor:

All of us here at the Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone involved in making our second year of LAUNCH! A Maritime Festival a success.

Of course, it takes dozens and dozens of volunteers to make an event work, and we were blessed to have so many, led by the indefatigable Michelle Allen, our LAUNCH! chairman, helming this ship for the second year in a row. Her LAUNCH! committee went into 2017 with all the energy and enthusiasm as the year before, and it paid off with an event community members of Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel are proud to call their own.

We were fortunate to have strong sponsors behind us once again this year, including lead sponsors Cape Arundel Cottage Preserve and Distinctive Tile and Stonework, as well as Weirs Buick GMC, Sharper Events & Party Rentals, Kennebunk Savings, Kennebunkport Resort Collection, H.B. Provisions, RE/MAX Realty One, Alisson’s Restaurant, Kennebunkport Marina, Kasprzak Insurance, Maine Office of Tourism, town of Kennebunk and the Nelson Family for supporting our efforts.

Thanks, too, to our media partner, Down East Magazine, for coming aboard this year and sticking with us through the late nights and early mornings of LAUNCH! 2017.

Special thanks to the Raymond family for once again going above and beyond in helping us make this event happen, and to the town of Kennebunk for bailing us out with a rain venue when needed.

We had many local non-profits participate in LAUNCH! events, for which we’re grateful, as well as dozens of our business members.

In short, it takes a village to create a celebration of that village’s maritime history, and we are so fortunate to have that here in the Kennebunks.

We’re already planning for Father’s Day weekend 2018, so if you’d like to get involved in LAUNCH!, now’s your chance. We’d love to have you.
