Candidate understands school challenges

To the editor:

Rachel Phipps, a candidate for the RSU 21 School Board, is a proven and passionate advocate for the children in our community. An experienced social worker — with over 25 years in the field — she has worked tirelessly on behalf of local children. She has served as the youth services coordinator and as a member of the Kennebunk Board of Selectmen. She has volunteered for our schools in a variety of capacities — from coaching Odyssey of the Mind teams, to helping select our principals, to leading trainings on alternative discipline methods and conflict resolution.

She offers the perspective of a professional steeped in the nexus of the intersecting needs and challenges of schools, families and communities, mixed with her own personal experience as a parent of two RSU 21 students.

She has the courage to speak truth to power — and a lifetime of evidence fighting for those who lack a voice. When it comes to representing the needs of children, I can think of no better person than Rachel. Her fierce intelligence, dedication, determination, training, knowledge, and demonstrated commitment make her an exceptional candidate; I consider it our good fortune to have someone of her caliber willing to serve our district.

Please join me on June 13 in supporting Rachel for the RSU 21 school board.
