Day at the Beach 5K benefits youth

This year’s 26th annual Day at the Beach 5K on July 9 is all about children.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the KBIA scholarship fund, which has allowed 12 local youth the opportunity to participate in over 200 Kennebunk Beach Improvement Association classes at little to no cost, and Kids Free to Grow program of the York County Child Abuse Prevention Council.

The race will feature live coverage from Sarah Long of WMTW Channel 8. The race will be broadcast live and will highlight the beach setting of the course. Also, Crusher (Red Claws), Kenny-Bear (Kennebunk Savings Bank), and Oakie (Oakhurst Dairy) will be on-hand to high-five the children has they cross the finish line.

For more information on KBIA or to sign up for the race, visit www.kbia.net or contact Aimee Vlachos, event coordinator, at events@kbia.net or call 423-9066

The race is sponsored by KBIA.
