Alice M. Roberts (Smith) 93, of Cape Porpoise and Lecanto, Florida. Alice passed away on March 27, 2017, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Lecanto, after a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 31, 1923 in Conway, New Hampshire, a daughter to Ernest and Beryl Smith.
She worked for the woolen mills in Limerick, Patent Leather Mill in Waterboro and a key puncher for Hannaford in Portland.
She attended the North Alfred Baptist Church, The Church on the Cape and Hernando Church of the Nazarene.
In her spare time, she enjoyed oil painting, basket weaving, sewing, needlepoint, crocheting and knitting. She didn’t only knit for her family, but enjoyed knitting and donating her newborn baby hats and prayer shawls. She looked forward to Wednesday mornings when the ladies got together at The Church on the Cape to knit.
Alice was predeceased by her parents, three sisters and husband, Stan. She is survived by her daughter Glynis R. Thompson and husband Sherm of Cape Porpoise; Five grandchildren; Nancy Crowell, Karen Lord, Denise Pride, Greg Thompson and Brian Thompson; six great grandchildren; Sister In Law Marion Roberts and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be Saturday May 20, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at The Church on the Cape in Cape Porpoise with a celebration of life following in the Bartlett Room.
