Green is good

Kennebunk High School senior Ally Coughlan (center) reacts alongside her Class of 2017 peers to floor events during the annual Spirit Week assembly held Friday, March 17. Sponsored by the student council, Spirit Week pits classes against each other in daily after-school activities, from board games to trivia, pie eating and even singing the school song. Points are given for daily attendance, dressing in the outfit of the day (i.e., Dress like a Tourist Day) and items donated to a food drive. The week culminates in an assembly with a tug-of-war, relay race and air bands, followed by an evening dance at which winners are announced. This year, juniors and seniors tied for the Spirit Week title. “The real purpose is to add some fun to what can often be the long, dreary month of March,” Principal Susan Cressey said.
