KBIA announces T-shirt design contest

Each year, the Kennebunk Beach Improvement Association hosts the Day at the Beach 5K.

This year’s race on July 9 will not only benefit the KBIA scholarship fund (which provides opportunities for local children to attend summer camp at little to no cost), but will also benefit Kids Free to Grow (the child abuse prevention council of York County).

KBIA is looking for local artists between the ages of 5 and 15 years old who would like to design the 26th annual Day at the Beach 5K race shirt.

The theme is Day at the Beach and the winning design will be featured on 150 race shirts and unveiled on live television the morning of the race.

Designs can be submitted to events@ kbia.net by May 1. The three finalists will be notified by email by June 1, and the winner will be announced live on television on July 9 at the race start.

All sign-ups before April 15 will receive a Day at the Beach race shirt designed by a local child of the Kennebunks. Also, new this year, racing mascots. Mascots from a number of local organizations will be on hand to lead the Kids’ 1K Fun Run.

The KBIA Day at the Beach Kids’ 1K and 5K race is scheduled for July 9 at 8:30 a.m.
