Support for annual tree lighting celebration is appreciated

To the editor:

The 33rd annual Kennebunk tree lighting had a great turnout Saturday. Thank you to all that made this tree lighting one of the best.

Donna and Nelson Ballou happily donated their spectacular tree.

A big thanks to Kennebunk Light and Power for hanging the banners and donating the candy canes that were given out by Santa, and to the Kennebunk Police for closing the streets and providing additional assistance.

John Downing was the master of ceremonies for the event. Thanks to the following merchants and banks who participated in providing food, beverages, and treats:

A Place To Start Again, Andrews Milligan, Berkshire Hathaway, Boulangerie, Camden National Bank, Duffy’s Tavern and Grill, Found, Gorham Savings Bank, Kennebunk Inn, Kennebunk Savings, People’s United Bank, Smithwick and Mariners Insurance, Smitty’s Cinema provided popcorn from its popcorn machine, TD Bank.

Found provided the electrical source for the popcorn machine and Larry Macintyre and his horse and wagon drove Santa to the tree.

Alaina Tridente and Laura Snyder Smith from Chamber of Commerce along with Tucker Smith were the popcorn poppers. Jules Reinoehl conducted the Kennebunk High School choir, who sang beautifully. Kenny Bear skated at Waterhouse Center.

Finally to the big man himself, Santa Claus, for coming to light the tree and then going to the Waterhouse Center to skate.

Thank you.

Ahmed Ciangiulli and the Kennebunk Downtown
