Robert Pillsbury

Robert E. Pillsbury, 87, a resident of Kennebunk and longtime estimator for Pillsbury Plumbing and Heating, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford following a period of declining health.

Bob, as he was known to most, was born April 3, 1929 in Kennebunk, the son of Halstead E. and Stella May Hooper Pillsbury, and is a graduate of Kennebunk High School, class of 1947.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served briefly in Germany as part of the Army of Occupation. Upon his discharge, he returned to Kennebunk and worked with the Libby family as a salesperson with Libby Hardware.

He joined Pillsbury Plumbing and Heating, and retired as an estimator for the company.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, and found much enjoyment in his life through music. He was a member of the Royal River Philharmonic Jazz Band for over 30 years, the Sid Lerman Trio, playing the clarinet and saxophone.

He is predeceased by a sister, Phylis Stuart.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mildred Glover Pillsbury of Kennebunk, a daughter Marion Gagnon and her husband Steven, of Kennebunk, a son William Drinkwine of Nashua, New Hampshire, two sisters, Frances Hinckley and Shirley L’Heureux, both of Kennebunk, grandchildren Angelina Whitcomb, Michael Drinkwine, Vada Boulette and Karen Yanik, and three great grandchildren, Sarah Whitcomb, Cole Drinkwine, and Maddie Wakefield.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Martha’s Church, 30 Portland Road in Kennebunk. Interment with military honors will be in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.

Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk.
