Candidate is ‘everything a senator should be’

To the editor:

In the 26 years since I was first elected to the Maine Senate, I have had the good fortune of knowing and working with many outstanding men and women who have served Maine at the local, state, and federal levels of government. There is, however, one individual who stands head and shoulders above them all, Sen. Ron Collins.

Ron is a hard-working, thoughtful, and caring legislator who listens to the concerns and suggestions of those who he represents in Augusta. His best attribute is that he gets things done. He clearly is proud of our state and the communities he represents and, as chairman of the legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Transportation, he has worked tirelessly to improve Maine’s roads, airports and rail systems.

Very few work harder for our state and it’s been a pleasure to know and work with him on issues ranging from improving driver education to the creation of Maine’s first veterans drivers license. We are, indeed, fortunate to have good folks like this in Augusta.

This is why I strongly urge everyone in Senate District 34 (Acton, Kennebunk, Lebanon, North Berwick and Wells) to vote for him this Nov. 8 - because Ron Collins is someone we can count on and, most importantly, he is everything a senator should be.

Charlie Summers, secretary of ttate
(2011-2013), state senator (1990-1994)
