To the editor:

On Nov. 8, voters in Senate District 34 (Kennebunk, Wells, Acton, Berwick, Lebanon and North Berwick) have the opportunity to vote for an intelligent, accomplished, visionary leader who works well with people of all or no political affiliation…Jonathan “Jay” Kilbourn of Kennebunk.

I became acquainted with Jay through the work he and his wife Molly Hoadley have done on behalf of seniors called “No Place Like Home.”

Jay and Molly looked at the demographics of our aging state and the plight many seniors face with housing, taxes, transportation, healthcare and respite care for the caretakers. They personally funded a movement to open up conversations, hold focus groups for needs assessment, and determine the available services. Jay brings so much to the position that would benefit all Mainers. He was a Regional Vice President of Casella Resource Solutions, a large recycling company now providing waste and recycling services to Kennebunk. He has served on the MSAD 71 (now RSU 21) school board, is on the Kennebunk Light and Power District Board of Trustees and is a founding member of the Solar Association of Maine.

At a time when we need a leader who will focus on job creation, struggling seniors and families, and clean alternate energy sources, Jay is ideally suited to tackle these challenges. I urge you to visit his website, kilbournforsenate.org, and learn more about this outstanding candidate. In addition to voting on Election Day, you may also order your absentee ballot at your town hall or by visiting the Secretary of State’s website, www.maine.gov.

Please join me in sending a smart, savvy senator to Augusta by casting your ballot for Jonathan “Jay” Kilbourn.

Diane M. Denk
