State rep candidate

To editor: One thing that’s in short supply these days among politicians is an ability to actually accomplish anything. It’s easy to posture and make speeches, short or long. It’s quite another to put in the hard work and have the skill required to see something through, focusing on what might be required to achieve a desired goal. We don’t need more posturing and speech making in Augusta, we need representatives who can work with others to achieve real progress in our work on the many challenges that we face.

Diane Denk is just such a person. She has worked for years as a strong advocate on issues that concern us all: Helping families and seniors, helping small businesses create jobs, developing alternative energy at reasonable cost, keeping taxes fair. She’s running for the Democratic nomination in House District 9, which includes Kennebunkport and parts of Kennebunk and Biddeford.

At the recent Maine Democratic Convention, Diane was elected to represent Maine as it Democratic National committeewoman, elected one of Maine’s four Presidential Electors to the Electoral College, and named a delegate to the Democratic National Convention. She is secretary of the Portland NAACP, a long-time supporter of York County Shelters, and has worked for years with groups supporting hospice care, conservation, and active military and homeless veterans.

She’s proven herself to be a tireless worker and very effective advocate for truly improving things in our communities and our state. Please vote for Diane Denk on June 14 in the Democratic primary.

Monica and Bill Grabin
