Campaigning at parade

To the editor:

Kennebunk’s Memorial Day parade and wreath-laying was a reverent and fitting tribute to our departed military veterans. Many thanks to the American Legion, the VFW, the Wounded Heroes Project, our twirlers, school band, the scouts, town officials, fire and police departments, and everyone else who participated to mark this solemn and reverent occasion. Your efforts were very much appreciated.

To the Kennebunkport political candidate who parked a large campaign truck on Main Street, and spent the parade waving signs and posing for photos – please go back to civics class. There are some occasions when politicking, mugging for the cameras and touting for votes is simply not appropriate. Memorial Day is one of those occasions.
