Committee appreciates community support

To the editor:

The 32nd annual Kennebunk tree lighting had one of its largest crowds ever. Thank you to all that made this tree lighting one of the best.

A big thanks to Kennebunk Light and Power for hanging the banners and donating the candy canes that were given out by Santa and to the Kennebunk police for closing the streets and providing additional assistance.

John Downing was the emcee of the event. Thanks to the following merchants and banks who participated in providing food, beverages, and treats: Andrews Milligan, Berkshire Hathaway, Boulangerie, Camden NationalBank, Duffy’s, GorhamSavings Bank, Kennebunk Inn, Kennebunk Savings Bank, Marlows, Smithwick and Mariners Insurance.

Smitty’s Cinema provided free popcorn and use of a popcorn machine. TD Bank, York County Coast Star and Camp Wool provided the electrical source for the popcorn machine.

Larry Macintyre and his horse and wagon drove Santa to the tree. Laura Dolce and Laura Snyder Smith from the chamber of commerce were the popcorn poppers.

Nate Menifield conducted the Kennebunk High School Choir, who sang beautifully. Victor Cavanaugh helped us set up. Finally to the big man himself, Santa Claus for coming to light the tree and then going to the Waterhouse Center to skate.

Kennebunk believes in the magic of the season. Lunch with Santa and the Elves was a huge success. Everyone received candy canes from Santa.

Stops included Sebago Brewing Company, Squaretoes Restaurant, Duffy’s Tavern and Grill, Perfecto’s Caffe and the Waterhouse Center. Lunch with Santa is sponsored by the Kennebunk Downtown Committee.

Thank you.

Ahmed Ciangiulli, chairman
Kennebunk Downtown Committee
