Arthur Kenney

Arthur Joseph Kenney, 79, of Kennebunk and Chatham, Massachusetts, passed away on Nov. 5, 2015 after a long battle with dementia. Art was born in Fall River, to his parents Arthur and Bernice Kenney. Arthur graduated from Chatham High School, class of 1954.

He served proudly in the U.S. Army contracted by the Department of Defense. Arthur worked for Western Union as a computer technician for 25 years.

During his last few years there, he attended Syracuse University and acquired a master’s degree in speech and language pathology. Arthur then became a speech and language pathologist for the public school system that allowed him to explore his passion of teaching, helping children learn and helping others.

Arthur loved tennis and was always eager to give lessons, He kept busy by enjoying golf, running, poetry, dancing, the Red Sox, Celtics, clamming, skiing and attending the United Methodist Church in Chatham.

Arthur will be truly missed by his loving sons: Arthur Kenney of New Orleans, Patrick Kenney and his wife Julie of Saco, his devoted step-sons: Nelson Addair and his wife Joyce of Bristol, Virginia, Terry Addair and his wife Vonda of Lenore, North Carolina, and Joseph Addair of Tampa. He is also survived by his dear daughters: Michele Eldridge of Chatham, Jennifer Highbarger and her husband Morey of Kennebunkport, as well as seven cherished grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son-in-law Mark Eldridge. Services for Arthur were held in Chatham.
