Support for Family Fun Day appreciated

To the editor:

Our committee would like to extend its deep appreciation to all the people who helped make the recent West Kennebunk Family Fun Day such a special and successful event. Even the weather cooperated by providing a beautiful summer day.

Thank you to all the local businesses that generously allowed the use of their property for Fun Day activities or for parking, as well as making direct donations to support the event.

The businesses include The Village Tavern, Cummings’ Market, Seed and Bean, 3-M Plastics, Fortress Network Solutions/Coactive, Lunch Bow and Dairy Queen, as well as the Masonic Lodge. Also, thank you to Dawn Stevens for allowing her property to be used for several children’s activities, as well as for a general base of operations for the day.

We would also like to thank the West Kennebunk Fire Station for setting up the dunk tank, as well as manning the fire truck and smoke house.

A big thank you to the classic car/truck owners who participated in the parade and then set up a car show, as well as to all the others who took part in the parade. There were some really great autos on display.

Thank you also to Ed and Susan Karytko for dishing up wonderful ice cream sundaes. Thank you also to all the vendors, crafters and bakers who took part in the day, as well as to everyone who helped with set-up, including members of the town crew, and with cleanup.

Lastly, but certainly not least, thank you to the many people who came out to enjoy all the events of the Family Fun Day.

From pony rides to face painting to enjoying some of the great food offered, families, friends and community members made the Family Fun Day a wonderful day.

A great deal of committee effort goes into putting on this event, and when we see the smiles and hear the laughter and the positive feedback, every second of that effort is made worthwhile.

Thank you again to our community for supporting the Family Fun Day, and be sure to circle Aug. 6, 2016 as a must-do event.
