Iris Perkins

Iris Marion Perkins, 80, of Wells, died Friday afternoon, July 31, 2015 at The Pavilion in Sanford surrounded by loving family. She was born in Medford, Massachusetts on Oct. 3, 1934, the daughter of Edgar Nelson Champion and Marion Ray (Millman) Champion. She grew up in Medford, graduating from Medford High School. She then continued on to secretarial school, earning her certificate.

On March 27, 1954, she married Frederick A Perkins III, a union lasting 37 years until his death in 1991.

Iris worked in many different jobs over the years. She was a production worker at Corning for several years, and a retail clerk at the former Ames store in Wells.

She loved riding around the beach, watching the ocean waves, and enjoying the scenery and especially enjoyed people watching. She was an animal lover and would take in stray cats that appeared in her front yard. She loved feeding the birds, squirrels, and whatever else came to her bird feeders. She also loved traveling with her children around the United States. Iris was an avid reader, but will be best remembered as a loving and selfless mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband Frederick, her parents, and her daughter Kathleen Grace.

Iris is survived by her loving children, son Frederick and wife Karin of Bremerton, Washington,, son Michael and wife Sheila of Springvale, Maine, and Orlando, Florida, daughter Deborah Nadeau and husband Donald of Rochester, New Hampshire, daughter Donna Cady and husband Michael of Kennebunk, daughter Dorothy Elizabeth of Wells, son Mark of Ogunquit, son John and wife Lynne of Sarasota, Florida; her brother, William Champion and wife Elaine of Sandown, New Hampshire; grandchildren Frederick, Scott, Matthew, Colby, Caitlin, and Spencer Perkins, Nicholas and Dustin Cady, Douglas Gaines and wife Morgan, Garrett Perkins, Lydia and husband Mike Lehoux, and Mitchell Perkins; Great grandchildren Greyson, Dyllan, Daphne Gaines, and Elouise Lehoux.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells. Burial will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Wells.
