Library to host presidential historian

American author, presidential historian Douglas Brinkley will speak at a special fundraising event for Kennebunkport’s Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library on June 25 at Kennebunk River Club Casino. An evening with Douglas Brinkley begins with a reception at 5:30 p.m.

A professor of history at Rice University, CBS News Historian, and a contributing editor at “Vanity Fair,” Brinkley has won critical acclaim for a body of work that includes: “The Great Deluge, Water Cronkite,” “Tour of Duty : John Kerry and the Vietnam War,” “The Magic Bus,” “Jimmy Carter, Witness to America,” “The Nixon Tapes,” and “Wilderness Warrior : Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America.”

His remarks on June 25 will focus on “Wilderness Warrior” and the environmental legacy of President Theodore Roosevelt. All proceeds from Brinkley’s appearance benefit the library. Tickets are on sale at the library. Seating for the event is limited. The price includes the pre-event catered reception by Kitchen Chicks and Downeast Wine Imports. Copies of the book “Wilderness Warrior” will be available for sale and signing.
