Storms delay public meetings

Winter storm Juno, which struck southern Maine Jan. 27-28, dumping some 2 feet of the white and fluffy, played havoc with local meeting schedules. And in that regard, subsequent storms on Jan. 30-31 and Feb. 2 didn’t help.

The Kennebunk Board of Selectmen meeting scheduled for Jan. 27 will now be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

That meeting agenda is slated to include discussion of a violation of coastal sand dunes by the town and a $3,400 fine assessed by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

Other agenda items will include approving a spending plan for $162,300 in tax increment financing (TIF) funds, approving ambulance rates for 2015 and updating the alcohol policy at the Waterhouse Center.

Also, a free presentation on cyber security and scams affecting the aging population, originally scheduled for Jan. 31, will now be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 in town hall.

Finally, a public meeting called by the Maine Department of Transportation to discuss replacement of the Bartlett Bridge, which carries Route 1 over the Kennebunk River, has been postponed. Originally slated for Monday, the meeting will now take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, at town hall.
