Rosemary Chard

Rosemary Alice Carroll Chard, 51, of Grayson, Georgia, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 in Kennebunk. She was born in Teaneck, New Jersey, on Feb. 10, 1963, a daughter of William A. and Joan Rosemary (Van Steenbergh) Carroll. She grew up in Kennebunk where she graduated from Kennebunk High School, Class of 1980. After her graduation, she worked for Kennebunk Savings Bank and Meserves Market, where she met Andy Chard. They married in August of 1983 and lived in England for four years. Following this, they moved back to the United States and settled in Georgia.

There, Rosemary graduated from Georgia State University and then furthered her education, earning her master’s degree in education. She combined this with her talent in music, often singing to her students in the classroom. Rosemary loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed travel, and taught for a short time in Vietnam, before recently returning to Kennebunk.

Rosemary was predeceased by a brother, William K. Carroll in 1978, and a sister, Elizabeth Carroll Cummings in 1995.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew Jonathan Chard, her son, Timothy Andrew Chard, and her daughter, Grace Rosemary Chard, all of Georgia; her parents, William and Joan Carroll of Kennebunk; and her brother, Joe Carroll of Kennebunk.

There are no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Parish/St. Martha Catholic Church, Kennebunk. Burial in the spring will be in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.
