Artist award

Artist Val McGann, an Atria Kennebunk resident and native of Galway, Ireland, recently created an oil painting he titled, “Homage to Vermeer.” The painting was nationally recognized from out 900 entries by a panel of art judges for Atria Senior Living’s national art exhibit, Eyes of the Wise. The painting will be featured in a traveling art exhibit throughout the United States along with 29 Atria resident art pieces that were selected across the country. The Art of the Wise exhibition is dedicated to celebrating the artistic vision of those rich in experience and to giving others the opportunity to see art, pleasure, pain, joy and beauty from a perspective that takes a lifetime to gain. “Bush Estate,” a painting by the late John Mott, a former resident of Atria Kennebunk, was also recognized by the paneling team and will be featured in the exhibit this year in his memory.
