Candidate is family advocate

To the editor:

Diane Denk’s work on behalf of needy families makes her an excellent choice for state representative in District 9 (Kennebunkport and parts of Kennebunk and Biddeford).

Diane previously chaired a homeless shelter for women and children on the south side of Chicago. Her hard work and tireless fundraising enabled the shelter to take ownership of a convent and make necessary repairs so each family could have its own room until they found permanent housing. Children were able to attend school while their mothers attended classes and found employment.

Diane has continued this advocacy for families in Maine through her support of Caring Unlimited, York County Shelter Programs and other groups that advocate for needy families. She has been instrumental in hosting drives and organizing fundraisers on their behalf.

At a time when there are many families in crisis, we believe Diane would be a strong voice for them in Augusta. Please vote for Diane Denk on Nov. 4.
