Genealogy group helps those researching family roots

Since 2009, Kennebunk Free Library has hosted free genealogy programs for those interested in researching their family roots. The free programs require no registration. This season’s calendar will offer a broad spectrum of topics.

On Saturday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m., Michael Brophy, a nationally known, professional genealogical researcher, heir search specialist and lecturer from the Boston area, will present “Descendency Research.”

In 2010, he was hired to conduct research for the NBC television program “Who Do You Think You Are?” on an episode dedicated to the family history of actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

The next meeting of the genealogy group will be a panel discussion 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 4 on the topic Genealogy Blogs and Podcasts. Drop-ins are welcome.

For more information, call the library at 985-2173.
