Timothy Shorey

Timothy D. “Tim” Shorey, 53, of Kennebunk, died unexpectedly early Thursday morning, Aug. 14, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

He was born in New London, Connecticut, on Sept. 22, 1960, a son of William Arnold Shorey, Sr., and Alice Margaret (Bragdon) Shorey.

He grew up in Kennebunk, and attended Kennebunk High School. Tim then graduated from Massabesic High School before continuing on to Southern Maine Technical College, where he received his certificate in auto repair. Following graduation, he ran his own auto repair business for 10 years. He then began a new career in memorial monuments. Tim first worked for Heritage Memorials before moving to Peru, Maine, where he owned and operated Shorey Monuments.

At the time of his death, he was employed as a maintenance supervisor for the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Tim enjoyed music, artwork and spending time with his family, especially fishing and swimming with Lucas. Tim also enjoyed working on and restoring old cars. He was predeceased by his mother, Alice M. Bragdon, and a sister, Margaret “Peggy” Shorey.

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Heather Rebecca (Dunn) Shorey of Kennebunk; two sons, Michael John Dunn of Alston, Massachusetts, Lucas Bragdon Shorey of Kennebunk; his daughter, Cheyenne Snow Dunn of Kennebunk; his father, William Arnold Shorey, Sr., of Kennebunkport; a brother, William Shorey, Jr., of Kennebunk; his halfbrother, Brian Shorey of Berwick; two stepbrothers, Robert and John Kinney, both of West Kennebunk; three sisters, Josephine Hunt of Kennebunkport, Erica Brown of Newfield, Autumn Howe of Auburn; his great aunt, Esther Rote of Kennebunkport; several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews.

A period of visitation was held on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at Bibber Memorial Chapel in Kennebunk.
