Family Fun Day a ‘wonderful’ event

To the editor:

Our committee would like to express its deep appreciation to everyone who helped to make the recent West Kennebunk Family Fun Day such a wonderful event.

Even Mother Nature helped, with predicted rain staying away.

Thank you to the local businesses/ organizations who so generously allowed the use of their property and/or facilities. These include Seed and Bean, where vendors/crafters set up and where the Ray Brown Band entertained; United Methodist Church, Triple “M” Plastics and Elaine Riley for use of their parking areas; the Masonic Lodge, where the car show was held; and Coactive Technology Solutions, who allowed vendors to set up.

Special thanks to Village Tavern for allowing the pie judging contest to take place at its location, and for supplying the judges, as well as for helping out with the watermelon eating contest.

As always, this type of event cannot succeed without the time and effort of many volunteers.

Thank you to the people who ran the different activities, to those who contributed baked goods, to those who served ice cream and worked the food cart, and to others who participated in the parade and who took the plunge in the dunk tank.

Last, but certainly not least, thank you to all the families, neighbors and friends who came out to participate. Whether it was a 2-year-old riding a pony or an octogenarian watching the parade and enjoying an ice cream, there were smiles everywhere.

And that is what the Family Fun Day is all about. It is a time to celebrate our West Kennebunk community with all our friends and neighbors.

Thank you to one and all.
