Annmarie McInnis

Annemarie C. McInnis, born Dec. 20, 1922 in Boston, Massachusetts, to Wilhelm and Else Junker, died peacefully on July 22, 2014.

A 1945 Radcliff graduate, Annmarie married Alan J. McInnis in 1948 and was married 62 years until his passing on June 30, 2010. She moved from Hingham, Massachusetts, to Kennebunk to be nearer to her family. An avid gardener and a lifelong member of the Hingham Garden Club, she was a dedicated civic volunteer in Hingham including the American Cancer Society. A figure skater and member of the Boston Skating Club, she taught figure skating later in life. She was very talented at flower arranging, winning many awards at the Boston flower shows. One of her most enduring talents was making wooden Christmas ornaments, which all her family members received one of every Christmas.

Summering at Goose Rocks Beach in Maine at the family cottage all her life, she also loved cruising with her husband and children on the family sailboats. She also worked as a marine insurance broker for her husband’s naval architecture firm Eldredge-McInnis.

Predeceased by her sister Else Foster of Toronto, Canada. She is survived by her brother, Wilhelm Junker, of Goose Rocks Beach and her sisters, Louise Cork of Oakland, California, and Hildegard Junker of Goose Rocks Beach. Also surviving her is her son, Craig, and wife, Heather McInnis, of Kennebunkport, her daughter, Lisa, and husband, Bill Stevenson, of Crosswicks, New Jersey, grandchildren Corey Gagnon, Mitchell Kell and Trevor Kell of Kennebunkport, Will and Chelsea Stevenson of Burlington, Vermont, and a great grandson, Kash Gagnon, along with many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Animal Welfare Society, PO Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094. A remembrance service was held Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at Bibber Memorial Chapel in Kennebunk, Maine. Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk.
