Kotzschmar Brass to perform at church

The Kotzschmar Festival Brass, comprised of a group of musicians from the Portland Symphony Orchestra, will perform at The Church on the Cape in Cape Porpoise Sunday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. Joining the ensemble will be Portland Municipal Organist Ray Cornils, who is also director of music at the First Parish Church in Brunswick and a member of the faculty at the University of Southern Maine.

The ensemble is comprised of brass and percussion instrumentalists who all perform with the PSO.

Cornils has frequently joined the group, including the opening concert of the American Guild of Organists Regional Convention. Members include: John Schnell, Betty Rines, Alan Kaschub and Daniel Duncan, trumpets; John Boden, Sophie Flood, Nina Miller and Carolyn Cantrell, horns; Nicholas Orovich, Sebastian Jerosch, Mark Manduca and Tom Michaud, trombones; Dan Hunter, tuba and Nancy Smith and John Mehrmann, percussion.

The concert will feature a program of works and arrangements for organ and brass. A donation is suggested and the concert is presented by The Keith McClelland Community Music Foundation, which is dedicated to encouraging the performance of quality music in the Kennebunks.
