7th annual Blueberry Festival at Holy Cross

Holy Cross Lutheran Church’s seventh annual Blueberry Festival will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 at the church on the corner of Lord and Storer streets in Kennebunk.

All proceeds from the festival will benefit the Biddeford Free Clinic, an organization that provides accessible and free outpatient general medical care to patients with no medical insurance who cannot afford private medical care.

Quilted items, bags, placemats, table runners and many other hand-crafted items will be for sale at the festival. The church will also offer homemade doughnuts, blueberry pies, fudge, cookies and other treats for sale. Blueberry shortcake topped with fresh whipped cream, the festival’s namesake dessert, will also be available.

Crafters for a Cause – comprised of Holy Cross Lutheran’s Social Concerns Committee and other members of the congregation – work all year to create unique crafts for sale at the festival.

Each year the Social Concerns Committee reviews community needs to select an organization to be the recipient of Blueberry Festival proceeds. The Biddeford Free Clinic was selected for 2014 for the work the organization does in addressing the medical needs of adults and children in the community.
