Celebrate science at Free Library

School lets out on Thursday, June 19 for RSU 21 students, and Kennebunk Free Library is ready with special programming to celebrate science this summer.

Registrations for programs will be accepted beginning June 19 by calling 985-2173, ext. 5 or emailing ys@ kennebunk.lib.me.us

Mad Science of Maine kicks off summer programming at Kennebunk Free Library on Wednesday, June 25 at 6 p.m. The all-ages program is packed with foaming flasks, mysterious oscillating colors, gases that do the mamba, gaseous genies escaping from bottles, and a real-life Mad Scientist that loves to bust molecules.

The program will be held outside the library, weather permitting, inside the Unitarian Universalist Church next door if necessary. No preregistration is needed.

Story times for young children will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:15 a.m. from June 24 to Aug. 14.

On Thursday, June 26, the Kennebunk Fire Department will present a special story time to children at the library at 10:15 a.m. Children will learn fire safety tips and get a tour of one of the fire engines. The program is free and open to all. No preregistration is needed.

Also on Thursday, June 26 between 2 and 3 p.m., children ages 4-10 are invited to drop in and make a glowing firefly fashioned from a jar, a glow stick, paper and pipe cleaners.

Children desiring a nightlight might enjoy making one of their own. No preregistration is required for this program.
