Can’t afford school budget increases

To the editor:

What: The RSU 21, municipal and state election. Where: At your town hall. When: Tuesday, June 10, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Why: This is your chance to slow down and eventually stop the yearly substantial increases by the current RSU 21 board with your no vote on June 10. How: Go to your local polls on June 10 and vote no on the RSU 21 $39 million budget ballot and vote for two new members on the school board, Jeff Cole and Lionel Menard.

Be prepared for November 2014 when the RSU 21 board presents you with a $55 million construction bond for the same three schools. Vote for Cole and Menard to bring back common sense and taxpayer concern to the RSU 21 board. We cannot afford to depend upon the state to bail us out. We must be responsible for maintaining a flat RSU 21 budget by cutting expenses equally across the board in keeping with declining enrollment. Vote on June 10 at your town hall between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. and vote no on the RSU 21 budget ballot. Send a message. I cannot afford these annual school budget increases. Can you?
