More than 300 parents and their children attended a celebration of literacy at Sea Road School on Thursday, May 8. After a pizza dinner, parents assembled in the gym for presentations about the importance of reading and the role they play in building literacy skills and creating lifelong readers. At the same time the children participated in various workshops focusing on enjoyment of reading. At the end of the night special guest reader, Nico Delorenzo, read a favorite book to the students. Also, thanks to a grant by the Kennebunk Elementary PTA, every child went home with a brand new book.
