Elizabeth Derham

Elizabeth A. Derham passed away at Maine Medical Center on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014.

She was born June 4, 1928, the 10th child of Fannie and Albert Seavey. She grew up in Cape Porpoise and attended schools there and graduated from Kennebunkport High School in 1945.

On Oct. 5, 1947, she married the love of her life, Luther Derham. They were married at her parents’ home in Cape Porpoise. For many years she was a homemaker, but after the children were grown, she worked at the school superintendent’s office in Kennebunk for several years.

She enjoyed baking, knitting, crocheting and loved to go dancing with Luther. During the summer months the family enjoyed the ocean and spent many hours there.

She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and 10 siblings.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Robert and wife, Karen, of Ontario, Canada, Linda Taylor and husband, Kent, of Bossier City, La., David and wife, Patricia, of Phillips, Maine, three grandchildren, several great grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor Leverriere and Cynthia Bosnsey and her husband, Roland, and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk with the Rev. James King officiating.

Should friends desire, donations in Mrs. Derham’s memory can be made to Kennebunk High School Alumni Association, Scholarship Fund, 89 Fletcher St., Kennebunk, ME 04043.

Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk.
