Kennebunk Free Library moves story times to church

Construction on the new HVAC system continues at the Kennebunk Free Library, and while temporary hours are in effect, story times are going to be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church next door to the library.

Beginning Jan. 6, story times will be held in the church parlor on Mondays and Thursdays at 10:15 a.m.

All ages are welcome to both story times. Families can park in the library parking lot to access the church.

Library staff will bring a limited selection of items available for borrowing, and requests can be made. In case of inclement weather, story time cancellations will be listed on the library website by 9 a.m.

For more information, call the library at 985-2173, ext. 5 or visit www.kennebunklibrary.org. The library will also host two social media workshops. The workshops include an Introduction to Facebook and an Introduction to Twitter.

Both are designed for people who would like to use the social networking sites but don’t quite know how to start. Covered will be the basics of both sites: how to create a profile and how to use it to connect with others.

During the second half of each session, they will help set up individual accounts, answer any questions and allow participants to explore the sites.

The Facebook workshop will take place Thursday, Jan. 9, from 2 to 3 p.m. The Twitter workshop will be held the following week, Thursday, Jan. 16 from 2 to 3 p.m. Registration is required for each and spots are limited.

For more information or to register, call the library at 985-2173 or stop by the front desk to sign up.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops or portable Internet devices.
