Are residents ready for renovation vote?

To the editor:

Are you folks in Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel ready for that school renovation election on Jan. 21? Anybody with a lick of sense knows the vote count will be diminished due to snowbirds away for the winter, the difficulty for the elderly, shut-ins and the general public to get out due to frigid temperatures and icy roads and sidewalks.

We’ve been told by the school board that absentee ballots are the way to vote in winter. Did anyone alert the taxpayers who headed south in September and October. It seems that the new line to an old song is going to be, “All I want for Christmas is an RSU 21 absentee ballot.”

I guess we’ll just have to rely on the post office to get all those mailed absentee votes to the three town halls on time. Personally, it will be hard to live with the fact that only a few voters might decide on what is now a major 25-year tax increase for a $114 million dollar project (including interest).

Imagine this fact, we could buy 114 milliondollar homes for the cost of this so-called renovation plan. Just saying.
