Help Santa make wishes come true

Secret Santa has begun its 26th year of providing Christmas gifts to local children whose families cannot afford to do so. The mission has not changed, but the organization is trying something new.

Trees will only be located in the three local Kennebunk Savings Bank branches: Lower Village, and in Kennebunk on Main Street and on Route 1.

As in the past, trees still may be found in the town offices of Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel, Graves Memorial Library and Kennebunk Free Library.

Members of Quest Fitness and Cocoons will also find a tree at those locations.

Secret Santa is a nonprofit organization that provides Christmas gifts – warm clothes, winter boots, books and that special item they are hoping for – to the children of local families in need.

A parent or guardian has filled out an application form at the general assistance office in Kennebunk, Kennebunkport or Arundel.

The information on the form has been transferred to tags that hang on the Secret Santa trees. Each tag represents the Christmas wish of a child from the three towns.

Those interested in donating should take a tag from the tree and purchase the requested gift. Return the unwrapped gift and tag by Monday, Dec. 9 to any tree location.

Secret Santa volunteers will deliver the gifts to the families in time for Christmas.

Participants make also make a monetary contribution and volunteers will shop for the gifts on any unclaimed tags. Send a check payable to Secret Santa to P. O. Box 301, Kennebunk, ME 04043.
