Open house to feature brick oven pizza

Parents and students at The New School in Kennebunk will host an Open House and Brick- Oven Pizza Night 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 22. All are welcome to tour the school, meet students and families and enjoy brick oven pizza.

After learning about the school from parents and students, visitors will be walked through the process of pizza-making – from stretching the dough, constructing pizza from a variety of toppings and cooking it in the school’s wood-fired brick oven. The oven was built as a senior project by former student Jade Deshaies and her father, David (a member of Masons on a Mission), after traveling to Guatemala to build ovens for families living in poverty.

There will be salad and dessert to accompany the pizza and the Kennebunk River Band will provide music. A bonfire will follow with marshmallows to roast. This is a family event and will benefit The New School. Portland Pie has provided the sauce and dough.
