Senator-elect appreciates support

To the editor:

I would like to thank everyone in District 4 who voted for me and so many others who supported me with advice, sign making and knocking on those doors. It is because of all of you I am standing here in awe of this great opportunity.

I am honored that District 4 has chosen me to represent their district. I look forward to providing caring and effective leadership.

It is a truly humbling experience to be part of such an amazing process and find at the end, I will now be senator of District 4. It has definitely been an experience to remember. I’ve learned a lot in the process and look forward to growing and learning more in Augusta. There are so many of my relatives that chose to serve before me (my father, my uncle and my cousins). They have made the Dutremble name one that represents proud, professional and honest politics. I have big shoes to fill, but look forward to continuing the proud tradition of the Dutremble family.

There are so many individuals who were instrumental in making this possible. My brother, Richard H. served as my treasurer of the campaign, among other titles; Sen. Nancy Sullivan, for her tireless time and advice; and my entire family and so many friends for helping with signs, doors and whatever I needed.

I need to thank my family for their understanding in my time away, allowing me to pursue a dream I needed to fulfill. I thank my children for their texts and hugs, but especially want to thank my wife, who is my biggest fan. Without her support, my running for Senate would not have become a reality. Her encouragement and sacrifice have not been underestimated. I know how important it is and will continue to be.

I could not have done it without everyone’s support. Again, thank you and I look forward to representing the people of District 4 and the people of Maine.

David E. Dutremble, Senator elect
