Historical society to host golf tournament

(Courtesy photo) Cape Arundel Golf Club will host the 12th annual Kennebunkport Historical Society Golf Tournament 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21.

The tournament is open to the public. Registration includes 18 holes of golf, cart, prizes, refreshments and a gala posttournament party and barbecue catered by Ned’s Bakes and BBQ.

The tournament features prizes and many free gifts. There will be an opportunity to win a new 2012 Buick Verano from Weirs Buick GMC for a holein one on the 13th hole.

Other hole-in-one prizes include a three nights and two rounds stay and play vacation to TPC Las Vegas (No. 3), Razr X black driver and fairway woods and a set of Razr X Black irons.

Also provided by Weirs Buick GMC are $50 gift cards for Callaway golf products. The cards need to be activated by Mark Gonneville with a stop by or email to consider a GM product for future purchase. The cards will be available in the free goody bag along with the following items: 2012 Kennebunk High School golf hat, a sleeve of golf balls, greens ball marker, three-color ball marker and snacks for the course.

Other skill prizes offered will be low net and low gross teams (first, second and third place): closest to the pin (women, No. 3 and No. 6, Men, No. 13 and No. 16); closest to the line (women, No. 7, men, No. 4); and longest drive (women, No. 11, men, No. 12); and Longest putt made (No. 9).

There will also be a silent auction for rounds of golf at nearly a dozen local golf courses. The free door prizes include gift certificates from local merchants and restaurants, bottles of wine and memberships to the Fitness Nut House.
